Get smarter about your money with this Financial Wellness Minute. I'm Vic Dale, manager from Mid Minnesota Federal Credit Union's Alexandria Office. As the new year begins, there are several activities to kick-start your year on a fresh note. One important task is to declutter and organize various spaces in your home and your finances. Start by clearing out your closet and donating or discarding items that you no longer want or that no longer fit. When it comes to your finances start by organizing your financial information in convenient ways.
  • Have utilities and other consistent bills set for auto pay from your checking or through bill pay.
  • If you have past employer 401(k) accounts, look into rolling them over into one account so all information is in one location.
  • Set up a budget for 2024 and make a plan to track it monthly. You can use money management tools to track spending and saving in one spot. Start with your financial institution's online banking or mobile app and look for a "budget" tool. Likely, this can automatically upload your transactions.
