All federally chartered and many state-chartered credit unions are led by volunteer boards, have volunteer supervisory committees and, in many cases, have volunteer credit committees as well. Credit union volunteers take on a fiduciary responsibility in setting the direction of credit union policy on lending, operations, security, employment and much more.
